Tips to Make Your Galentine’s Day Brunch Successful
Set up the night before.
Truly learned this from my grandma after years of helping her set up big Thanksgiving dinners. Setting up the night before instead of waking up the morning of is so much less stressful. You will be able to focus on cooking the last minute things and setting up the things that are time sensitive.
Items I used to create my display:
- Sparkly Paper Runner
- Greenery
- Pink Candlestick Holders
- Candlesticks
- Heart Garland
- Scotch Removable Mounting Putty
Have someone come over early to help you do the small stuff.
The morning of my brunch, my best friend came a little early and she helped me do last minute things like take set up some decor I didn’t get to the night before. We set up the waffle bar area with fruit and other toppings. She took the trash out for me so we could have a fresh bag. She was just there to help with the stuff that made me a little more stressed.
Get hot plates to keep things warm.
I do not personally own these, but again this a tip based off helping my grandma set up for parties over the years. She has several hot plates she sets out on the counter to help keep food warm. Because I didn’t have that, I put my food in the over to rewarm, which I still think is a good idea and I’ll talk more about that below.
Here are a few hot plates I found:
Chefman Electric Warming Tray with Adjustable Temperature Control
Bleu Jamais Electric Warmer Plate with Adjustable Temperature Control and Touchpad
Ovente Electric Food Buffet Warmer
Buy serving trays and plates second hand.
If I had ordered these tips in order of importance, or by best to worst tip, this tip would go first. I cannot stress enough that you should buy your serving trays and dishes at thrift stores or from second hand shops. I went to three places, and found so many great items. I think I spent about $30 and got dishes and fun glasses for the beverage stations. And now I have dishes for so many other occasions as well that didn’t break the bank.
Make it a pot luck.
This tip is from all my experience as a guest. Almost every party my friends have, we do potlucks. It makes it so much more relaxing as the host to just need to prepare one or two items. And this could turn into a recipe swap with your friends! I saw on Tok Tok this girl had her friends bring the recipes to share for any item they brought and she made a cute cookbook with it.
I mean if you aren’t going to be hosting brunch or dinners often, there really isn’t a reason to spend a bunch of money on these items. Another option is to borrow them from someone. I almost asked my mom and grandma, but I decided I wanted to have a few trays just in case I decide to host more often.
Cook items the night before and rewarm.
The night before I had my first Galentine’s Day Brunch, I cooked the sausage and waffles so I had one less thing to do the morning before. I also cut up all the fruit for the waffle bar and the beverage station. My friend made muffins the night before as well.
Here are a few items I think you could make the night before:
- Breakfast casseroles
- Pancakes
- French toast
- Sausage
- Bacon
- Quiche
- Egg bites
- Charcuterie tray
Venmo is a great option.
If you are doing a potluck meal, and someone isn’t sure what to bring, or if there seems to be enough items already, suggest someone Venmo’s someone else to help pay for their item. This would be good for people who are bringing drinks or booze.
Your guests are your friends. They will love anything you put together.
This is also super important to remember. I felt super inadequate right before my friends showed up. I just didn’t think it was what I had envisioned and I was a little nervous they were going to think it wasn’t cute. But they walked in and were so kind and uplifting. They were like you could have just thrown all this on a paper plate and we would have loved it. And I was like yeah, they love me for me, not because I put on a fabulous brunch.
Easy Appetizer
Ingredients:
- Crescent Roll Sheet
- Asparagus
- Prosciutto
- Gouda Cheese
- Egg
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees (or whatever the Crescent Roll Sheet says on the package). Cut your Crescent Roll Sheet into 8 squares. Cut your Prosciutto in half long ways. Bend your asparagus sticks so snap off the bad ends. Place a strip or two of prosciutto on your crescent square at a diagonal. Add two strips of asparagus on top. Top with gouda cheese. Take the two open corners of the Crescent Roll Sheet and overlap them. Pinch them a little to make sure they stay together. Brush some egg over the top to make them shiny.
Cook them for about 13 minutes in the oven. I checked them at 11. Times may vary depending on the oven.
